JAXA's H3 Rocket Flight 10 Has Launched, Sending MMX Toward Mars

We're Take Parts Factory, an NC (CNC) lathe shop in Toyokawa, Aichi, Japan.

On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 4:41 a.m. Japan time (19:41 UTC on October 19), JAXA's H3 rocket Flight 10 lifted off from the Tanegashima Space Center.

About 71 minutes after liftoff, the MMX spacecraft separated from the rocket, and JAXA announced that it had entered its planned orbit.

MMX will take about a year to reach the Mars system, arriving in 2027. It is to land twice on Phobos, one of the two moons of Mars, collect samples, and bring them back to Earth in 2031. Nothing has yet come back to Earth from the Mars system.

The H3's first-stage engine, the LE-9, is an engine we have machined about 15 parts for.

Congratulations on the launch. As a small shop that has made parts for the LE-9, we're glad to see it fly. We're looking forward to MMX coming home in 2031.
